Crafting music that is a fusion of soul, rock, jazz, blues, and avant-garde, “HARRIET TUBMAN” featuring Brandon Ross, Melvin Gibbs, & JT Lewis, have become one of the most celebrated bands of our time. Their last recording The Terror End of Beauty on Sunnyside and Early Future Records (vinyl only) was met with wide critical praise from Rolling Stone Magazine, The Wire (UK), and Downbeat Magazine, and their concert at the Earshot Jazz Festival in November 2018 was cited as the Number 1 concert of the year by NPR’s Nate Chinen. Giovanni Russonello of The New York Times also recognized a performance by “Harriet Tubman”, as one of the best concerts of that year.

The Critics Speak:
“The seismically intense New York-based trio Harriet Tubman has been relying on a combination of skill and instinct since its founding 20 years ago. And the approach has come to fruition on The Terror End Of Beauty, the troupe’s latest release on Sunnyside.” - Bill Milkowski, Downbeat
“Song You Need to Know: Harriet Tubman, ‘Redemption Song’. (The) Genre-bridging NYC power trio brings out “anthemic melancholy” in the Bob Marley classic.” - Hank Shteamer, Rolling Stone.
“The Terror End Of Beauty emerges as a sizzling hot snapshot of a band as danceable as they are deranged, as physical as they are cerebral, as fired by the past as they are committed to finding a future.” – Neil Kulkarn, The Wire
"As free as their iconic abolitionist namesake, Harriet Tubman is an irresistible force of truth, beauty, and electric improvisation". – Greg Tate, Village Voice
"This is black music at its best”. – Suraya Mohamed, NPR
